ABOUT US
KUYWEE INTERHEALTH CENTRE (KIC)
KIC’s mission is to improve access to quality primary healthcare services in this remote part of Agago District and the surrounding areas. It opened its door to patients in October 2019 and has been serving Kuywee trading center and the surrounding villages with first line primary health care services which includes a pharmacy, laboratory facilities and admissions capacity.
KIC is passionate and dedicated to helping local communities achieve quality health care services and is dedicated to:
- Reduce mortality rate due to lack of healthcare services within local communities and to provide easy access to quality healthcare services.
- Strengthen the institutional and resources capacities of key actors including local Government, health centres, communities in health care services, focus on improvement of quality of life.
OBJECTIVES
- To contribute to the improvement of Health Care Services in both rural and urban areas in Northern Uganda, by involving Communities in Health Care decision making.
- To strengthen the capacities in terms of knowledge enhancement, skills upgrading, attitude change, data and information gathering, analysis and dissemination of key actors (children, women and men), involved in Health care services.
- To boarded and enhance the prevention of disease which threatens children, women and men including palliative care, maternal child health needs, STI’s and HIV/AIDs through involving activities of prevention, care and support.
- To support and implement Government and WHO policies through provision is of well researched empirical data and information relevant to health care services.
- To improve basis care of common illness, including non-communicable diseases and injuries.
- To provide specialised Health Care.
- To provide public health education on prevention and control of common dieses.
- To contribute to the attainment pf significant reduction of morbidity and mortality due to Environmental Health and unhygienic practices and other environmental Health related conditions.
- To conduct home improvement campaigns and establish model village in all districts in Northern Uganda.
- To sensitize the general public on the importance of sanitation and hygiene promotion.
- To train village Health teams.
- To provide carrier guidance to school going students and the youth in general.
IMPACTING HEALTH
It has been identified that Kuywee has a population of 30,000 is the worst affected because of its remote location from the District in terms of access to health facilities. KIC has been founded with the mission to provide accessible and affordable quality health care and to strengthen the local community knowledge. We strive to play a leading role in initiating health promotion programs to engage every citizens.
ENGAGING COMMUNITY
We strongly believe that every individual has the right to access good health facilities in times of need and we are committed to meeting the needs of our local community members. Several approaches can help us to achieve this key one being empowering communities through health promotion and preventative measures but equally addressing preventable causes of death and illness by providing first line support.
FORMING ALLIANCES
We believe that the best way to maximise our success and create sustainable results is by working in collaboration with other teams and organisations in the community.
